New country update: India added to Giki Zero

With a population of 1.4 billion people it’s perhaps not surprising that India is the world’s third largest greenhouse gas emitter. What’s more surprising is that whilst the average Indian carbon footprint is well below the global average many Indians, especially those who are wealthier and live in cities, have a carbon footprint close to people living in the EU.

That’s why we’ve launched Giki Zero for India so that more people can understand their personal footprints and, just as importantly, find ways to reduce it. This means that detailed, science based, carbon calculations are now available to almost 2 billion people, free, on Giki Zero.

We know how important measuring and reporting the progress your employees are making to cut carbon is to every organisation, as you seek to reach your climate goals and support new sustainability strategies.

How Giki Zero for India helps individuals

  • Anyone living in India can now choose India when they create an account on Giki Zero and personalise their carbon footprint to understand where they are now, and where they need to get to, in this decisive decade.
  • Choose from over 100 steps which are relevant and actionable in India. A step to turn radiators down, which might be useful in the UK or the northern USA, is not in India. Steps and tips on air conditioning, however, will help cut costs and carbon.

Each step comes with helpful tips, useful links and a handy checklist to help people complete a step.

People have the power to change the world, and organisations can empower people to do it. We must take collective transformative action now and Giki Zero Pro helps companies do exactly that.
